Spam Filters
What's an e-mail spam filter? How does one work? How can you enable spam filtering?
An email filter is a software application that’s installed on a POP3/IMAP mail server and monitors all incoming email messages to hinder any undesired ones from entering a certain inbox. Several examples of such email messages would be: offers for pills or cash, fake bank statements or email attachments that contain malicious software sent with the idea to infect your personal computer. Spam filters usually ‘scan’ the content of an email and when they spot certain keywords or other suspicious content, they either erase the email or redirect it to the Spam/Junk folder instead of the Inbox folder. Certain web hosting providers mix their own filters with up-to-date databases from spam-monitoring organizations, so as to ensure higher levels of safety for their clients. Such databases include patterns, mail server IPs and other info about spam messages recently reported by these organizations.

Spam Filters in Website Hosting
Our website hosting servers use one of the best spam filters available on the market. It is called SpamAssassin and is available with each and every shared hosting plan, so in case you host your domain names with us, you can opt for one of the 5 protection levels that the spam filter offers for any mailbox that you’ve got here. You can do this with only two clicks from the Email Manager section of the Hepsia Control Panel that’s used to manage all web hosting accounts. SpamAssassin analyzes the header section and the body of every message, gives it a spam score and then proceeds based on the level that you have chosen. Each email account can have a different level and you can choose whether the messages that the anti-spam filter marks as spam should be deleted or re-sent to another mailbox where you can read them at a later time, so as to avoid deleting a genuine email. Switching to a different level or disabling the spam protection is also unbelievably easy.
- Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you use a semi-dedicated server package from our company and if you set up one or more email addresses with any of the domain names hosted under your account, you will be able to activate the powerful, 5-level SpamAssassin anti-spam filter that we provide and keep all undesired messages away from your mailbox. This option is accessible through the Email Manager section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and it can be activated or deactivated for any mailbox whenever you like. You can also configure the security level with several mouse clicks in case unsolicited bulk emails still appear in your mailbox or the spam filter begins deleting authentic emails. As you can select whether the spam should be deleted momentarily or re-sent to another email account, you can create spam@domain.com, for instance, and check all filtered email messages there, so as to make sure that you will not omit a message that you need. The emails that the email filter permits to proceed will still appear in your mailbox. - Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
